How does Kity connect to my bank?

If you create a group within Kity, you'll be asked to link your bank account to Kity via Fena Labs Ltd, our trusted and FCA-regulated Open Banking provider (FCA reference 934835), to connect securely to your chosen bank account. We only do this to seek consent and retrieve transactions, so you can share these with members of the group you've created and invited.

When you choose to link your account, you’re redirected through Fena’s secure flow to your bank, where you''ll then approve the connection to Kity.

We never see or store your bank login details — the connection happens directly between your bank and Fena.

Group members don't need to connect their bank, only the group owner [the person who created the group].

Can Kity access my bank account or move my money?

No. Our app has read-only access to your transaction information, which we don't have any visibility of.

We only retrieve transactional data — and only with your explicit consent. We cannot make payments, transfers, or changes to your account in any way.

Does Kity hold money?

No. We only retrieve transactions from the bank account you have decided to link within our app. The group balance shown is a simple calculation showing the total of any incoming and outgoing transactions that have been shared. No money is ever held by Kity and have no responsibility.

What information do you collect from my bank?

With your consent, we only access:

  • Recent incoming and outgoing transactions (amount, date, merchant, description)

  • Every time you select 'All my transactions' within the 'Group owner' homepage, we'll retrieve any latest transactions from the connected bank account

But Kity does not have any visibility of these, and you have full control over which transactions you decide to share with members you've invited to the group you created.

Who is Fena and why do you use them?

Fena Labs Ltd (FCA Firm Reference Number 934835, Company Registration Number 12358683) is an authorised Open Banking provider.

They securely connect to your bank on our behalf and share the transaction data we need — nothing more.

Fena Labs Ltd is regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) under the Payment Services Regulations (PSD2). They are subject of UK and EU data protection law and it is required to treat your data in accordance to those laws.

Once I connect my bank account to Kity, can I revoke access at any time?

Yes — at any time. You can:

  • Disconnect your account within our app, or

  • Revoke consent directly with your bank, which instantly stops data sharing through Fena

Once revoked, we will no longer receive updates or new transactions from your bank.

Please be aware, you're consent will automatically expire every 90days, as part of the Open Banking regulations. We'll keep you informed on when you'll need to re-consent within our app.

What if I signup but never create a group?

When you create an account with Kity, you will only be required to connect your bank account if you create a group. There is no reason to connect your bank account if you're only being invited to groups as a member to view read-only transactional information shared by the group owner.

We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the KityApp mobile application (“App”) or our website (www.kityapp.com).

KityApp allows you to connect your bank account securely via Fena, a regulated Open Banking provider authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) under registration number [Fena’s FCA number].

We do not handle your banking credentials, and we do not have direct access to your bank account.

What data we collect and why

Kity is committed to protecting your personal data. Any personal data from which you could be identified, will only be used in accordance with this Privacy Notice.

We collect different types of data depending on how you use the Service.

  • Basic personal details: name, email address, phone number and login credentials for the service.

  • Provide authorisation to retrieve transactional data: this may include transaction amounts, dates, merchant names, and account balances, that have been securely shared via Fena, our FCA-regulated Open Banking partner.

  • Device and usage information: including app usage metrics, crash logs, and device identifiers to improve performance.

We do not have access to:

  • Your bank login credentials

  • Your bank account balance, card details, or security information

  • Any other non-transactional account information

How we use your data

We use your data to:

  • Provide and improve our service.

  • Display your financial transactions.

  • Maintain and improve app functionality.

  • Communicate with you about updates and support.

  • Maintain app security and performance.

We do not use your personal or transactional data for marketing purposes or sell it to third parties. We may occasionally contact you via email to gather feedback to help us improve our service, and send email updates. But you can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us at info@kityapp.com.

How your data is stored and secured

Your data is:

  • Encrypted in transit (TLS 256-bit) and at rest (AES).

  • We host our services on Amazon Web Services (AWS) within the UK/EU, using secure, industry-standard infrastructure.

  • We apply strict security controls, including encryption, limited data access, and continuous monitoring.

  • We never store your banking credentials — all authentication occurs directly between you, Fena, and your bank.

How Open Banking works

When you connect your bank, Fena Labs Ltd securely requests your consent to share transaction data with Kity.

Once authorised, Fena provides us access only to the information you have approved — typically recent incoming and outgoing transactions.

Your Open Banking consent automatically expires every 90 days in line with FCA regulations. You can revoke it at any time either through:

  • The Kity app, or

  • Directly with your bank.

When consent is revoked, we immediately stop receiving new data.

Sharing your data & third parties

We share data only with controlled, trustworthy partners to deliver the Service:

  • Fena Labs Ltd, our FCA-regulated Open Banking partner, who provides the services to allow you to connect your bank account to Kity, and also to securely provide transactional data from this same bank account.

  • Hosting / Infrastructure providers — AWS for storing encrypted data.

We ensure that all partners comply with UK GDPR and only process your data under our instruction.

Your rights and retaining data

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you

  • Request correction of inaccurate data

  • Request deletion of your data

  • Withdraw your Open Banking consent at any time (via the App or Fena portal)

  • Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you are concerned about how we handle your data

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the service, or as required by law. If you close your account or request erasure, we will delete or anonymise your data, subject to legal obligations.
